How do I calculate my meeting’s impact?
You can find out the exact carbon footprint of your meeting or event directly in the Marriott Meeting Impact Report (MIR) tool. Once you have filled in the event details there, the platform will show you a total in tons of CO2 equivalent and point you back towards this Climate Shop to compensate for it.

Climate action projects
Are all these projects approved by Marriott HQ?
Yes, all the projects you can see on this Impact Shop have been approved by the Marriott Sustainability team who is responsible for the Meeting Impact + Carbon Offset Program.
Why is the price per tonne different for each project
The price per ton of climate projects varies based on factors like the project type, location, scale, methodology, and market dynamics. These include differences in labor, materials, regulations, and market conditions, as well as the scale and complexity of the project, verification processes, and incentives.
How many projects can I contribute to with 1 order?
Each order can only contribute to one project. But you are more than welcome to vary that selection through time; if you support project A for an event that happened in May, you can support project B for the next event in June!
Ordering on the Impact Shop
Can I place orders on behalf of different properties?
If you are part of the team calculating and compensating for the events at more than one property, you can place compensation orders for each of the properties you are linked to.
When you fill in the property information in the MIR tool, the total even footprint calculated will be linked to that property. That same property and event information will be carried across to the South Pole Impact Shop when you log in, so your compensation order will be made on behalf of these 2 entities.
To place an order for a different property, simply click on “sign out” in the banner at the top of your screen and head back to MIR tool to start the calculation process for the new property.
What documents will I receive after placing an order?
Once you have confirmed your order, you will receive 2 emails from South Pole.
The first one is your order confirmation. It is entitled “Your South Pole Carbon Asset Management Ltd. order confirmation”. It contains a summary of your order, your billing information and the payment method chosen. Attached to it is your certificate of climate action, a document with the name of the event you made this compensation order for and the project(s) you have supported with it.
The second is your proof of purchase. It is entitled “Invoice for your South Pole Carbon Asset Management Ltd. order”. It contains a summary of your order, your billing information and the payment method chosen. Attached to it is your invoice for this order.
